Alla Boara

Alla Boara is an ensmble that seeks to bring recognition and new life to Italy's diverse history of regional folk music.  The ensemble will make its Akron debut on the Knight Stage on Friday evening, February 4th. 

American Guild of Organists

The Cleveland Chapter of the American Guild of Organists will present internationally acclaimed organist Daryl Robinson in recital on Friday evening, January 28th at 7:00.  He'll perform on the newly refurbished Casavant organ at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 4129 Superior Avenue.  For more information, call 440-835-9083 

Apollo's Fire

Apollo's Fire has rescheuled it program called Lift Every Voice:  A Celebration of Brotherhood and Sisterhood.  That program will now take place August 3rd through 7th.  Apollo's Fire does expect to perform Handel's oratorio Israel in Egypt as schedule, on Thursday through Sunday evenings, February 17th through 20th, four different locations.  

Baldwin Wallace Conservatory

Cleveland Orchestra Trumpeter Jack Sutte will be joined by pianist Christine Fuoco for a faculty recital at the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory on Friday evening, February 4th at 8:00.  

Baldwin Wallace Conservatory

Brendan Caldwell will lead a concert by the Baldwin Wallace Symphonic Winds at BW's Gamble Auditorium on Friday evening, February 11th at 7:00.  The concert will also be live streamed.  

Baldwin Wallace University

Baldwin Wallace University's Arts Management Program has postponed its annual Arts Innovation Summit.  It will be rescheduled at a later date. 

Beck Center

At Lakewood's Beck Center, Victoria Bussert directs the Baldwin Wallace Music Theater production of Lizzie:  The Musical, American mythology set to hard rock, playing February 4th through 27th.   



Church of the Covenant

At the Church of the Covenant in University Circle, there are two series of drive-in carillon concerts, performed on the McGaffin Carillon  on Fridays at lunchtime, 12:15, and on Sunday afternoons at 4:00. 

Cleveland Cello Society

The Cleveland Cello Society will present its annual extravaganza, I Cellisti 2022 on Friday evening, February 4th at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Cleveland Heights,  There'll be cello ensembles from Baldwin-Wallace, Case Western Reserve, Bowling Green and Wooster College.   Dr. Khari Joyner, recently arrived cello professor at Baldwin Wallce will perform one of his own compositions for solo cello.  216-921-3480

Cleveland Chamber Music Society

The Cleveland Chamber Music Society's next concert will bring the Danish String Quartet to Plymouth Church in Shaker Heights on Tuesday evening, January 25th.  The program will include Three Divertimenti by Benjamin Britten and Schubert's String Quartet in d, known as Death and the Maiden.  

Cleveland Cinematheque

The January - February schedule for  Cleveland Cinemateque will feature eight film noir classics ranging from John Huston, Fritz Lang, and Max Ophuls to Otto Preminger.  Also showing will be 14 new movies in their exclusive Cleveland premieres, including several "best of 2021" films.   

Cleveland Museum of Art

The Cleveland Museum of Art has a special exhibition called Revealing Krishna:  Journey to Cambodia's Sacred Mountain.  That exhibition continues through January 30th.

Cleveland Orchestra

The  Cleveland Orchestra will welcome John Adams as Guest Conductor and  composer for three concerts on February 3rd, 5th and 6th.  The program wil lfeature pianist Jeremy Denk as soloist in a piano concerto by John Adams called Must the Devil Have all the Good Tunes?  The program will also include  music by Gabriella Smith, Carlos SImon, Philiop Glass and Steve Reich.  You can check the Orchestra's website for more information.  

Divinty Lutheran Church

On Sunday afternoon, November 21st at 2:00, the Arts and Action Committee concert series at Divinity Lutheran Church in Parma Heights will present Cleveland Orchestra memebrs Elayna Duitman, violin, and Carolyn Gadiel Warner, piano and violin, .  They'll of Mozart, Bach and Franck 

Great Lakes Theater Festival

Great Lakes Theater Festival has announced that, in view of the problems presented by the continuing Coronavirus surge, it will cancel its scheduled performances of the musical Ain't Misbehavin'.  They will produce the remainder of the season, including Much Ado About Nothing in March as well as Alfred Hitchcock's The 39 Steps in May.  

Lakeland Community College Civic Theater

Lakeland Community College Civic Theater will stage Stephen Sondheim's Assasins February 4th through 20th.  There will be post-play discussions with a retired senior secret service agent as well.  

Musical Theater Projecr

The Musical Theater Project joins with the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra to present The Gershwins on Broadway on Saturday evening, January 29th at the Maltz Performing Arts Center.  216-368-6062

Ohio Light Opera

Ohio Light Opera has  announced its plans for the summer at the College of Wooster.  The box office will open to the public on Wednesday, January 19th. The season begins June 22nd and continues through July 31st.  There'll be six shows in all, including the Rodgers and Hammerstein version of Cinderella, Hello Dolly, The Student Prince, Pirates of Penzance and The Mock Marriage.  Those five shows will be performed indoors, while the Fantasticks will be staged outdoors. . 330-263-2345   

Piano Cleveland

Piano Cleveland brings pianst Arseniy Gusev to the Maltz Performing Arts Center on Thursday evening, February 3rd for a free in-person and virtual recital.  Arseniy Gusev was the second prize winner of Piano Cleveland's 2020 Virtu(al)oso competition, and will perform music of Gibbons, Franck, Scriabin, Messiaen and others.  

Playhouse Square Broadway Series

Jesus Christ, Superstar is scheduled in as part of the Broadway Series at Playhouse Square.  The show will run February 2nd through 20th in the Connor Palace Theater.

Quire Cleveland

Bohemian Treasure is the title of the next performances by Quire Cleveland.  The focus is on the 17th century setting of the St. John Passion by the Bohemian compoer Christoph Demantius.  There'll be other pieces by Demantius and complementary chorales ffrom Bach's St John Passion.  There will be three performances at St. John Cantius Church, St. Vitus Church and St. Elizabeth of Hungary on March 4th, 5th and 6th,.

Snowbelt Symphony

The newest area professional orchestra, the Snowbelt Symphony Orchestra, will make its debut on Saturday afternoon, March 12th at 4:00 at New Promise Church in Kirtland.  Founder Greg Hills will conduct the program, which will feature violinist Andrew Sords as soloist in Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 5.  The concert will also include Mozart's Marriage of Figaro Overture, Pastorale d'ete by Arthur Honegger, and Haydn's Symphony No. 88.  440-296-9610

Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church

Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church at West 30th and Lorain hosts noontime organ recitals every Wednesday at 12:15.  On January 26th, Florence Mustric will present a program called Hamburger Heaven - music by Hamburg composers Johann Reinken and Jacob Praetorius.  On Feburayr 2nd, she'll perform JSB and a Few of His Friends - by by Bach, Widor, Mendelssohn and Peeter Suda.  

Tuesday Musical

Akron's Tuesday Musical will bring violinist Joshua Bell and soprano Larisa Martinez to E. J. Thomas Hall on Tuesday evening, February 8th in a proram featuring classical and operatic selections.  

Verb Ballets

Verb Ballets has commissioned choreographer Joshua Peugh to create a new evening-length Romeo and Juliet ballet.  The ballet will be presented as a work in progress as part of DanceWorks 2022 at Cleveland Public Theater February 17th through 19th.  The official world premiere will take place at Akron's E. J. Thomas Hall on Saturday, February 26th.   

Youngstown State University

Youngstown State University's Dana Ensemble will be joined by YSU Alumnus trumpeter James Suggs and vocalist Evelyn Wright for A Lovely Way to Spend the Evening, songs from the Great American Songbook specially arranged by YSU Professor Dave MorganThe free concert takes place on Wednesday evening, Feburary 9th at 7:30 in Bliss Hall's Ford Theater.   330-7277-7514
